If you have an iPhone or an Android phone, you no doubt have downloaded applications to your phone. The Apple’s app store offers more than 200,000 apps and the newer Android Market’s apps number close to 50,000. There are apps for communications, health, finance, news, travel, sports, social media and many more. There’s an app to do just about anything you want. You may not have noticed yet that there are several Catholic apps available to pray the rosary.
The two best Catholic apps I have seen are Catholic Mass Daily Readings by Aycka Software and Rosary by Artur Polit. Both of these apps are free and both will help you pray the rosary, step-by-step. They include the prayers for all the Mysteries — Glorious, Joyful, Luminous, and Sorrowful — along with the appropriate days for praying each. No forgetting where you are and no referring to a booklet for the prayers. Perhaps the best part of these apps is that it’s always with you, in your pocket or purse, available anytime to pray the rosary.
You don’t need a rosary to use these apps, but call me old fashioned, I recommend you hold a rosary as you follow along. There is something contemplative with holding a beautiful rosary as you advance along in your prayer.
So visit the app store on your phone to try one of the free rosary apps and visit The Rosary Boutique to buy a beautiful new rosary to complement it.
Just be sure to silence your phone as you pray the rosary.
